Youth for Human Rights: Article 9 – Protection from Arbitrary Arrest and Exile

Article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that "No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile." This article safeguards the freedom and security of every individual and protects against abuse of power by authorities. In our Erasmus+ project "Youth for Human Rights", students from six countries — Germany, Croatia, Portugal, Slovakia, Greece, and Turkey — came together to reflect on this right. Through international teamwork, they explored the meaning of personal freedom and justice, and discussed why it is crucial to stand up against arbitrary actions that threaten human dignity and security.​
