Human Rights: Article 9 - No One Shall be Subjected to Arbitrary Arrest, Detention or Exile11/8/2025 By Avsin, Ozan, Lucia, Anamari, Marianna, Hana und JulianaThis article safeguards the fundamental right to liberty and legal protection, ensuring that every individual can live free from unjust imprisonment, political persecution, or forced displacement. It affirms that no authority has the right to detain or punish a person without fair cause and due process. Yet, in many parts of the world, people are still deprived of their freedom without legal justification. Arbitrary arrests of journalists, activists, and minorities continue to threaten justice and democracy. As part of our Erasmus+ project “Youth for Human Rights”, students from Germany, Croatia, Portugal, Slovakia, Greece, and Turkey collaborated to explore the meaning of this right today.
