Youth for Human Rights: Fighting Modern Slavery and Exploitation

Article 4 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights declares:
"No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms." This article protects the fundamental right of every person to live in freedom and dignity, free from any form of slavery, forced labor, or human trafficking.
Although slavery is officially banned worldwide, modern forms of exploitation still exist—including child labor, forced work, and trafficking of human beings. As part of our Erasmus+ project "Youth for Human Rights", students from Germany, Croatia, Portugal, Slovakia, Greece, and Turkey worked together to explore the meaning and relevance of this human right today.
Through research, creative collaboration, and international dialogue, they examined how modern slavery affects people globally, and why it is important for young people to raise awareness and promote human dignity. This video presents their reflections and aims to encourage action against exploitation in all its forms.

"Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of themselves and of their family, including food, clothing, housing, medical care, and necessary social services." This article emphasizes that every person has the right to live with dignity, free from poverty, hunger, and insecurity. It ensures access to basic needs and support in times of hardship. As part of our Erasmus+ project "Youth for Human Rights", students from Germany, Croatia, Portugal, Slovakia, Greece, and Turkey worked together to explore this essential human right.
Through research, creative collaboration, and international dialogue, they reflected on what an adequate standard of living means in different countries and why it is so important for young people to raise awareness of social justice and equality – not only across Europe, but worldwide. This video shows the results of their work and aims to inspire reflection and action.

Within our Erasmus+ project "Youth for Human Rights", students from Germany, Croatia, Portugal, Slovakia, Greece, and Turkey collaborated to reflect on this fundamental right. They explored how young people can get involved in civic life, why voting matters, and how democratic participation ensures that all voices are heard in shaping the future.

As part of our Erasmus+ project "Youth for Human Rights", students from six countries — Germany, Croatia, Portugal, Slovakia, Greece, and Turkey — worked together to explore and reflect on this right. Through international collaboration, they discussed why the freedom to assemble and form associations is essential for young people to make their voices heard, to advocate for change, and to strengthen democratic societies.

Together, they discussed how freedom of speech enables young people to participate in society, raise awareness on important issues, and defend other human rights. Their reflections were captured in creative projects and joint international activities.
