Şekerpare is a beloved Turkish dessert that showcases the rich and sweet flavors of our cuisine. Creating this video was a delightful experience, allowing us to share the deliciousness of Turkish food with Europe.
Recipe for Şekerpare
Ingredients: 125 grams of butter (room temperature) 1/2 cup of powdered sugar 2 eggs (one yolk reserved for brushing) 1/2 cup of semolina 2 cups of flour 1 teaspoon of baking powder 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 1 cup of sugar 1.5 cups of water 1 teaspoon of lemon juice Whole almonds for garnish

nstructions:
Prepare the Syrup: In a saucepan, combine the sugar, water, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil and then let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes. Allow the syrup to cool completely.

Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and powdered sugar until creamy. Add one whole egg and one egg white (reserve the yolk), and continue to mix. Stir in the semolina, baking powder, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the flour and knead until you get a soft, non-sticky dough.

Shape and Bake: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Take small portions of the dough and shape them into oval balls. Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the reserved egg yolk and press an almond into each one. Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Soak in Syrup: Once baked, immediately pour the cooled syrup over the hot Şekerpare. Let them soak for at least 2 hours, or until they absorb the syrup completely. Enjoy this delectable Turkish dessert, which perfectly encapsulates the sweetness and richness of our cuisine. Making this video was such fun, and we hope it inspires others to explore and enjoy Turkish culinary delights!
